Six people were said to have lost their lives when some unknown gunmen stormed Lamba Gyambar community in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State late Saturday night . It was gathered that the gunmen attacked the community at about 11pm shooting sporadically and setting some houses on fire. It was also learnt that the gunmen took advantage of the removal of soldiers guarding the area on Friday. It was not known why the soldiers were removed but it was learnt that the soldiers had being redeployed to Maiduguri, Borno State, following the escalation of Boko Haram attacks in the North-East. A resident, Ibrahim Idris, confirmed to newsmen that four people were killed on Saturday while eight were injured. He said that out of the eight that were rushed to Dangi General Hospital in the neighbouring Kanam Local Government Area, two died on Sunday morning bringing the casualty figure to six. He said out of the eight that were rushed to Dengi General Hospital in Kanam LGA, two died yesterday morning, bringing the casualty figure to six. He said, “Two died of gun shot wounds this morning. The soldiers that were at the check point were removed on Friday and redeployed to Maiduguri, which is what our attackers took advantage of and attacked us.” The media and information officer of the special task force, Captain Ikedichi Iweha, confirmed that an incident of that nature occurred but could not confirm the casualty figure at the time of filing this report.
