10-Year-Old Girl Defeats Army Cadet at Push-ups

A 10-year-old girl challenged an Army JROTC cadet to a push-up contest during a fundraiser at a North Carolina mall and emerged victorious. Video of the showdown, taken by Kimberly Munley, the U.S. Army sergeant who faced down a gunman at Fort Hood in November 2009, shows Kaylyn Mintz, 10, taking on the Lejeune High School student enrolled in the Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps in a head-to-head push-up contest during a “Stand at Attention” fundraiser Saturday at Independence Mall in Wilmington. Mintz easily defeatedher opponent, finishing dozens more pushups than her opponent and at a greater speed. Munley posted on Facebook that the “little girl” is her “new hero.” The young girl revealed after the contest that she is a trained gymnast planning to try out for the U.S. Junior Olympics team. The “Stand at Attention” event invited members of the public to take on JROTC cadets in events including push-ups, sit-ups and planks.
